Play Week East takes place
on the lovely
tree-lined campus of
Rider
University in Lawrenceville, NJ. Easily
accessible from New York and Philadelphia, the campus is located just 8 miles from the charming and
culturally vibrant town of Princeton, NJ.

The four-and-a-half day format provides eight ensemble coachings,
special-topic sessions, and participant and faculty
concerts, but in a condensed time frame that fits into
your busy schedule! The workshop begins Wednesday late
afternoon and runs through late Sunday afternoon.
String players and pre-formed groups are welcome to
apply; some slots may be available for wind players.
Accommodations: This year, we will be staying in
West Village, Rider's newest and nicest residence
hall. Participants will enjoy their own private,
air-conditioned room within a comfortable four-bedroom
suite. Each suite has a full bath and a large living room.
For commuters, parking is adjacent to the building.
Dining: Meals at Rider are served in Daly's
Dining Hall. Starting in 2019, the university has
contracted with a new food provider that will have a
myriad of options for us, including gluten-free and
vegetarian meals. The lovely 10-minute walk from West
Village to Daly's passes by Centennial Lake and through
the Campus Green. Those not wishing to walk may drive
and park nearby.
Facilities: Ensembles meet in the living
rooms of the suites. The faculty perform in the Art
Gallery on Saturday evening and the participant concert
takes place in the NJM Community Room (formerly called
the Fireside Lounge) in the Student
Center on Sunday afternoon.
Rider University is 60 miles from New York City, 40
miles from Philadelphia, and 180 miles from Washington,
DC.
