Play Week Maryland

Chestertown, MD
July 21 to July 28, 2019 (Sunday to Sunday)

We are delighted to announce our move to beautiful Washington College in historic Chestertown, Maryland.

On Maryland's Eastern Shore, only a few hours drive from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, or Philadelphia, Washington College was the first college chartered in the sovereign United States of America. In 1782, General George Washington lent his name and donated 50 guineas to its founding. The 120-acre rural campus houses state-of-the-art facilities: "From the cutting-edge equipment in our laboratories to the Colonial-inspired red-brick paths that hearken to our 236-year history, we provide a modern experience that never loses sight of the past." For more information, please take a look at the Conference Services brochure.

Concerts for participants and faculty will take place at Hotchkiss Recital Hall within the Gibson Center for the Arts. The modern, renovated hall has a 200-seat capacity, excellent acoustics, and a fine grand piano. Three additional pianos are available for our use elsewhere in Gibson.

Lodging for the week will be in private single rooms within four-bedroom suites in Sassafras Hall, a three-floor, air-conditioned building with a lounge and kitchenette on each floor, an elevator, a laundry room, a small exercise room, and Wi-Fi. Most small ensembles will meet in the Sassafras suites.

Meals at Hodson Dining Hall focus on locally-sourced ingredients, a benefit of the college’s proximity to the surrounding farmland. The Executive Chef takes pride in offering a variety of food options to accommodate all needs, from healthy, traditional fare to vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free.

All guests may use the Johnson Lifetime Fitness Center or the Casey Swim Center during regular open hours.
